At 1,350 metres, on the slopes of Mount Vernon, the village keeps alive a story centuries old. Stone houses, cobblestone streets, and a community that built its wealth on the craft of silversmithing — the same craft that built our own mansion. The mansion is your starting point — the village is the world around it.

The Church of Agios Nikolaos
The Church of Agios Nikolaos was built in 1867, on the foundations of an older church, during the same era of prosperity that brought Nymfaio its silversmithing wealth — the same wealth that would later build our own mansion. The church was burned down in 1947 during the Greek Civil War, restored in 1951, and fully renovated in 2000. Inside, a rare marble floor bearing depictions of the Lamb and the double-headed eagle stands out, one of very few such examples in all of West Macedonia, alongside frescoes of modern saints such as Paisios and Porphyrios, and, in the entrance, heroes of the Greek Revolution. A short visit here says, perhaps better than anything else in the village, just how much history fits into so small a place.
Nikeios Scholi & the Arcturos Information Centre (Bear & Wolf)
The village's old school building now houses the Arcturos information centre, dedicated to the region's brown bears. For visitors with an interest in nature and conservation, this is one of the most meaningful stops.
The Silversmithing Museum - "The House of Nymfaio"
Nymfaio's wealth came from trade and from a now largely lost craft: silversmithing. Starting in the 17th century, Vlach master craftsmen settled here and passed the skill on to nearly the whole village, at its peak, up to 70% of residents worked in silver. The "House of Nymfaio" museum keeps this history alive, with jewellery, tools, and the travelling craftsmen's cases that once made it as far as Central Europe and Egypt. Our own mansion was built during that same era of prosperity.
Wine and Flavour: Amyntaio & Florina Peppers
A little further down, the Amyntaio (Amyndeon) region is known for its vineyards — with visitable wineries where you can taste and learn the story behind each label. Along the same route, Florina offers another local signature flavour: its famous red peppers, such as those from Naoumidis. An excursion here pairs naturally with a stay already built around authenticity and quality.
